I Got A Lash Lift + Tint And Here’s What Happened…

I’ve been wanting to try this for a long time! And I’ve heard of so many people loving their new lashes, all about how it saves them time in the morning or not needing any makeup at all after getting a lash lift and tint done so with my birthday and a trip coming up, I figured it would be the perfect time to do it!

I did my research, asked other people (even asked people on my IG Stories) and finally found a reliable place close to where I live, with great reviews and with fair prices so I booked an appointment.

MY MAIN CONCERNS AS A FIRST TIMER:

-That I might be allergic to the formula ( I have super sensitive eyes ).

-The 2 hour long process ( I can’t stay still for that long ).

-That my lashes were not long enough to give it a nice effect.

-That the tint wouldn’t be that noticeable on me since my lashes are already dark-ish.

-That my lashes would end up looking AND feeling crazy fake.

So anyways… I went in last week, a day before my trip to Cabo and I got both the Lash Lift and Tint.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

I arrived without any makeup on, but either way she wiped my eyes before she started. Then taped my bottom lashes (eek… made me a little anxious), it doesn’t hurt at all and within 2 min I forgot about it for the rest of the process. At some point I did get a slight itchy sensation, but it was mostly from having this foreign thing touching my eyelids and lashes. She also kept brushing my lashes a few different times to make sure they were all spread out and perfect. Then she went ahead and applied a cold gel-like substance to my upper lids, then applied a solution to my upper lashes. After a few minutes she applied the other solutions to lift and tint while brushing my lashes yet again and that was it! I was told appointments are recommended every 6-8 weeks, she removed the tape from my eyes and handed me a mirror.

RESULTS / THOUGHTS:

Within the first 15min I was relieved to see I wasn’t going to be allergic to the formula. My eyes are super sensitive so I would have felt it right away! A week later I still haven’t had a reaction and don’t think I’ll be getting one at this point.

The process did take close to 2 hours! Which drove me a little crazy to be honest, but I should mention that I don’t really enjoy things like these… getting my nails done, getting a massage, doing anything to my hair, etc. I get them done every now and then because I like the results, but the process is always a drag for me. However the place was extremely relaxing and she was great! It’s just an Erika thing. So if you’re like me, be prepared to be there for a while (or at least that was my experience).

Also I was right about the tint not being too noticeable. My lashes are already dark-ish brown so if yours are the same and they’re charging extra for that part, then go ahead and skip it! Not worth the extra cost. I paid $80 and the price was the same with or without the tint so I decided to go for it.

NOW FOR THE ACTUAL REVEAL…

I was sort of right about my lashes being a little too short BUT at the same time it is a very noticeable change. Please keep reading. What I mean by this is that the expectation I had was that my lashes would look dramatically different, almost like when you get the more natural looking Lash Extension, you know what I mean? But I feel that a big part of this expectation is because 99% of the Lash Lift photos out there are of people with long lashes (not fair or helpful in my opinion) then it’s no wonder you (or at least me) kind of forget your own reality. So when I opened my eyes and looked in the mirror my first thought was “Oh is that it??” I walked to my car, got in and immediately pulled down the mirror and stared at my lashes for a while! And then I started noticing things like… “Okay I like how they’re all perfectly spaced out, they do look and feel natural (even though I wasn’t supposed to touch them yet) and most importantly they did look 100% lifted.

Fast forward to two days later when I was now allowed to get them wet and use mascara, waking up to my eyelashes looking so nice and lifted first thing in the morning was SUCH A GOOD FEELING! I always joke that I look like a teen boy because I’m all skinny looking, have no real curves AND the 3 lashes I have are all short and straight! So growing up this all made me look even more like my brother Edgar LOL so I always always wear mascara. But after getting them Lifted/Tinted last week, if I don’t wear mascara they still look like I put 1 good coat on and they look perfectly curled and nice. They don’t look extra long by any means, my length is what it’s always been but I do look more feminine now. And when I do apply mascara I noticed that it goes on way easier, I don’t need to apply as much and they actually look way nicer than they’ve ever looked. Bottom line?? I would do it again. I can definitely suck it up for 2 hrs if I can go out and not need a single drop of makeup on my face but my SPF.

Have you tried this before? If so, did you have a different experience? Let me know your thoughts below, I’m curious to know. Also, feel free to head to my IG Stories to take a closer look at the final results! As always thank you for reading,

Let’s talk about Plaid, Checks and Gingham Patterns…

I have always loved a fun pattern on my outfits and lately it seems like I can’t stop wearing clothing that has either Plaid, Gingham or Checks in their pattern. They might look very similar so it’s easy to confuse but it’s all in the direction of the stripes and the symmetry that set them apart.

Plaid is the mix of vertical and horizontal lines that are crisscrossed in varying widths which creates a grid. If you need another visual think: Burberry , they have made the look so iconic that I don’t think we’ll be forgetting about this trend any time soon. You usually see it in 3 color ways, but of course there’s infinite color combinations out there which makes it a really fun pattern to wear and adds a bit of a twist to this classic pattern.

Gingham gets its name from the weaving process. The overlapping stripes create a different level of transparency to the color tones and it usually comes with white thread lines that create it’s characteristic look.  It might come in a smaller scale or big, depending on how bold you would like to go. I am always going back and forth between them so don’t ask me to choose!

Checks typically comes in two color ways that creates the illusion of a checkerboard, so this pattern consists basically of squares. I have seen it’s comeback in the last year mostly and I love it!! I used to think out of all 3 it was the most boring one but when you find pieces that have bold colors it doesn’t seem so dull anymore!

Whichever one you prefer, I think it’s a great Trend to add this Fall season! Check your closets and bring back to forgotten items and incorporate them into new re-styled looks!

Healthy Eating! The CRATEFUL Experience

Wander With Love Crateful

If you follow my Instagram Stories you probably watched my daily updates on the Crateful meals a little while back. If you didn’t keep reading! You see, healthy eating is always one of my top priorities and specially with the new year so when the opportunity came to try a food delivery service, I jumped at it! I had read good reviews about Crateful before and I’ve never tried this type of meal service so I thought it would be interesting to see for myself. You can find more about them here.

In full disclosure I did not pay for this service, I was offered to try it for free but everything I share in this blog is ALWAYS MY REAL OPINION. I kept a daily journal for the duration of the trial which was from Monday to Friday, so I will share with you exactly what I thought about the experience.

Crateful - Wander With Love- Erika

Day No. 1:

I had just gotten back from a weekend getaway and it was so incredibly nice to come home to a cooler full of meals for the day! Actually, any day of the week it would be a nice treat but whenever I travel I don’t really follow my normal diet. I’m all about French fries and burgers by the pool and maybe a cocktail or too (it’s vacay mode right?) so to have all these delicious and healthy meals ready to eat was a real pleasure! Okay, let’s talk about the menus:

breakfast

Thoughts: First impression on portions is that they were very good. Breakfast and Lunch were plenty to make me feel full. And as far as taste I have zero complains, it was really delicious! I was expecting very tiny portions but they were generous so I was gladly mistaken. And as for dinner, it was a slightly smaller portion but I did have dessert with it, so I get its and again I was satisfied. Every single meal was great!

Day No. 2: day 2

THOUGHTS: Breakfast this time was smaller, I felt like it needed to be a little bigger to keep me full. The flavor was not what I know to be ACAI, it tasted more like cool oats which hey I love, it’s just wasn’t the taste I was expecting. I did however enjoy it very much! The lunch and dinner were just as mouthwatering as they looked. These portions were very generous so I has happy and the dessert… well let’s just say I didn’t even consider sharing a bite, I loved it.

Healthy Meal - Wander With Love - LA Blogger

THOUGHTS: This and the first day were my favorite meals without a doubt! I can honestly say that portions on everything was perfect. Flavor left nothing to be desired and after 3 days of coming home to ready to eat meals, I was in food heaven! I seriously started feeling that I could get used to this.

Day NO. 4:DAY4

CRATEFUL Erikadvm

THOUGHTS: Breakfast this day was very good in flavour but I did feel like it would have been nice to have a little something else with the meal, maybe a side of potatoes to keep me fuller. It wasn’t a big deal, I had a piece of toast with it and was fine. As far as lunch, I’m still craving that risotto with beef because it was delicious. About dinner, the Veal loin roulade was okay, not bad and not great. I was indifferent to the taste, the portion was satisfying but it just wasn’t what the other meals had been. I thought the meat was kind of hard, maybe it was the way I heated it, but also the flavor was a bit off. The dessert was just as good as everyday!

Day NO. 5:day5Healthy Eating Wander With Loveeatcrateful.com | @eat_crateful

THOUGHTS:  I’ve been enjoying the fact that Crateful includes fruit in my breakfast, it makes me feel like I am getting a healthy meal every time, which was one of the biggest selling points for me when I decided to try Crateful. Moving on to lunch, I completely forgot to mention on the Restrictions section that I don’t eat pork. I mean I’ll have bacon every now and then, but in any other form I never eat it because I don’t like the taste. So with lunch being green pork chili, I wasn’t able to taste it. And I was so bummed because it looked amazing! That green sauce was calling my name but I just don’t eat pork and that was my fault so I had someone else eat it. I can however talk about dinner and that I did enjoy! The whole week I felt like I was eating pretty healthy without sacrificing flavor and this last day was no different.

Final Thoughts:

I fully enjoyed this food service. The meals were promptly delivered every single day to my door and the food was properly packed with more than enough ice packs preserving everything for up to 24hrs in the ice cooler, so I never worried there. And I have to say it was truly great to have 3 daily meals (plus dessert) delivered to my door that where healthy and overall satisfying. I truly enjoyed this food delivery service!

Going into this I was also trying to focus beyond the convenience of it. I mean of course that part is a big selling point but I also wanted to see for myself if I could truly enjoy the meals everyday and feel like I was eating healthy. And the truth is I did! I mean I didn’t love 100% of the meals, I know the Thursday meals weren’t my favorite but whatever I found missing I am sure I could better customise on the following order. Honestly there were far more good things throughout this experience than bad. If anything, cost would be something I would focus on more to make sure it would be worth it for my needs. As well as working with my difficult schedule.

Now on this last point I did have an issue because my schedule changes every single week. Whether I have photoshoots, blogger brunches, meetings or events to attend, I am constantly driving far to get to them. No week is the same for me, there are weeks where I drive to LA every single day, there are others where I only drive 2-3 times a week and some where I handle everything from OC. With a schedule that is always changing like mine, I realized I could not commit to a meal plan delivery service and I feel like I would end up spending more money in the end because of it. So even though I really liked their services I guess it wouldn’t work for me right now. I always encourage my readers to try things for themselves so if you do, I would love to hear your experience!

I hope you found this helpful!

Old School For Fall

I’ve been feeling the red sunnies lately and these particular ones are my favorites! They’re from a brand I just discovered called Perverse, they have the cutest eyewear. Sunnies are always a great statement piece and when I got this polka dot dress on my birthday, I knew both would go great together. I just had so much fun wearing this look!

The fabric is on the heavier side which I love because it has a nice effect when I walk or turn. But I felt like it had a dressier look than I wanted, so I paired it with my favorite white shoes to keep things casual and wore it down the street to meet my girls for the day! Grabbed some coffee, we went shopping and had a fun time together. Sometimes a nice belted long dress is all a girl needs <3

Blush + Leather

Okay so here it is! Many of you were asking me where to find this bodysuit I posted on my Instagram a few days ago, I tagged the brand but I know it sold out on their website so I decided to link where to find it on this post. I’ve always got your back!

leather look for fall

It’s the bodysuit of my dreams! I wish I had it in every single color and fabric (not even kidding). I specially love the leather on the straps, it’s such a beautiful detail…

It’s a look that works for me when I’m out all day but can throw on a jacket around sunset for the cooler LA breeze we get and head out to my next event or even cocktail hour!

And of course you know me, 99% of the time I wear gold jewelry so I accessorized with my favorite pieces and with the black ankle boots and jacket it makes a nice contrast…

Pink Suede For Valentines

Minimal style for Valentines! This holiday is just around the corner, so I put together a simple and chic look to wear for this cute occasion <3 Whether you spend it with your friends, family or your significant other this is the perfect look for it. It’s comfy to wear but a statement piece at the same time, so what’s not to love?

Now, if there is anything you need to know about me is that I ALWAYS love to dress up for specific occasions. Christmas, New Years, First day of Spring, 4th of July, Halloween… you name it! So of course, Valentines is no different. To me it’s the perfect excuse to have fun with your outfit so here it is…

The jacket is from Make Me Chic . This website has very affordable and cute clothes, so it’s perfect for shopping the latest trends without spending a ton of money. They have this jacket for $33.90 so it’s a great deal and I can see myself wearing it a lot. The trick to wearing pieces like these is to style them with basic items! That way it doesn’t look overdone or messy and let’s face it will be less of a headache when you’re trying to get ready in the morning. Simple is always best.

My Faves For Casual Moods

It’s been a hectic couple of weeks! I feel like January just flew by me so fast that I barely got time to adjust to the new year. So with a busy agenda comes the need for dressing comfortably in a chic way! So I put together a look that comes in handy for times like these. The outfit comes from classic and beautiful brands, some new, some local and some too fun not to mention!

My vest comes from Haute Shop Co a very cute and affordable online shop that I recently found! And their style is very versatile which I love. You can find anything from your much needed basic tees, the perfect date dress, to your edgy- fun jacket for a girls night out! They have it all and to my experience their delivery was quick and easy and the fit is true to size. I got a few things from them, so I will post other items soon but for now let me tell you this vest is beyond comfortable, I pretty much take it everywhere I go <3

When it comes to comfort and style my go to lately has been Thursday Boots. They are a high quality boot brand that stole my attention back when they were only making them for men, seriously, I kept waiting for them to launch their women’s collection and they finally did so I jumped at the opportunity to try them myself! I was not disappointed <3

Hidden Gems

I first created Wander With Love with the idea of introducing people to new discoveries. Anywhere from places to eat, favorite shops, what to see/do and of course include my personal style! I just get so excited about things like these that I wanted a place where I could share my little hidden gems with everyone else. Well, recently I found a new cute place to shop so I’m here to tell you all about it!

Primp Boutique is one of my new faves <3 Their style is modern chic, everything is under $100 and everything so far has been true to size (very very important to me when I shop online). I got a couple of things from their site and I will be posting in the next few days but I’m starting with this beautiful silver suede vest! I am obsessed with vests lately, they are the perfect add on that turns a basic outfit into a more fun and stylish one. I styled it with my favorite ankle boots and hat and I’m ready to go grab coffee with my girlfriends! Let me know what you think…

Be Brave + And Get Things Done

Meet your goals this year!

This year I have many goals for Wander With Love. Some are scary, some are exciting and some I haven’t figured out HOW I’m going to make happen, but one thing is sure.. I will stop putting these plans off, be brave and get them done!

From adding new platforms for sharing my style and tips, to more traveling this year to working with new people in this industry. I have already met so many interesting people this year, many of them who inspire and push me to do better! So I want to keep putting myself out there and finally put these ideas into action.

erika-vargas-la-blogger

The way I tackle the “brave” part is by sharing these plans with my friends and family and giving myself a period of time to meet that goal. It’s a great way to lose these doubts and insecurities because you will get honest and dedicated feedback. Plus, by openly committing to a time frame I have found that I am more likely to actually getting it done. Makes sense right?

So whatever you have planned for this year, make sure you begin working on that list before January ends! Not to put pressure on any of you, but it’s already the 19th and I feel like if the month ends and you haven’t attempted at least the first thing on your list, it will set a bad precedent for the rest of the year! It will be easier to lose momentum and fall into the “oh there’s always next year” mindset which will get us nowhere right? So get going!! <3 And please if there is any questions you might have about blogging or anything fashion related, let me know! I would love to hear your thoughts.

As always thanks for reading!!

Simple & Chic

First of all Happy New Year!!! I can’t believe it’s already 2017, time flies by when you’re having fun! And that’s what this last year was for me, a lot of fun. And thinking of that I put together a simple & chic outfit to welcome 2017! I want this year to be filled with a lot of new opportunities and adventures with the people I love so I will dress the part! Yes, I’m that type of person… But anyways lets get to it!

I found this dress online at Reformation. One of my favourite brands by far! And when I bought this dress it was marked full price but let me tell you that in the last 2 weeks it was marked down to $35.00! I wanted to die, but oh well it happens so I thought I would rather just share the good news with you <3 It comes in Emerald, Burgundy and Black. It’s the perfect date night dress with your significant other or even a fun night out with the girls! Whatever occasion you choose it’s definitely a fun dress to wear. I paired it with camel tones to keep it simple and gold accessories to match. Let me know what you think…
