Blush For Fall

Being caught in between the end of Summer and beginning of Fall leaves me wearing light dresses with ankle boots, but I don’t mind it at all! I do however wish I was living in NYC to be able to wear all the fun season clothes, specially now for Fashion Week! Has anyone else been following any of the runways? I am on high just watching these first ones, can’t wait for my favorite ones to come! But for now I am wearing one of my favoite colors these days blush and light grey. Simple and casual, but also just the right combo to get me through the day.

I am in love with these tones right now, they go with pretty much everything and they are both great colors to transition from day to night! So you will probably see me wear them more often in the next few weeks. Hope you liked this outfit and as always thanks for reading!

Sail Away With Me

I can’t believe Summer is basically over! I’ve been waiting for this for a long time, partly because I don’t have ac in my home and partly because I miss wearing my beautiful boot collection (can’t help it, sorry). But now that its around the corner, I figured I would welcome the new season with a “Sail Away With Me”.. to Fall-post.

I’ve been reflecting about how time keeps going by so fast and thinking about how many steps we’ve actually taken to move forward with our dreams. It’s easy to get distracted with life, I know I’ve been there a few times! But I don’t want to lose focus, I want to always keep moving forward. A new season always brings a fresh start and we should make the most of it, right? However, if you’re not feeling the drive think about how much your life can change in a year. For example, when I thought about how much mine has changed from exactly a year ago, I felt unbelievably happy! Not because everything went by so smoothly, on the contrary.. I made big life decisions about where I wanted to live, had some health issues to deal with, then had personal decisions involving my family, but then more happy things came along! For instance I had to get serious about how far I wanted to take this blog, which to me was very exciting. Also a guy with the kindest heart came into my life, he later became my boyfriend and is now someone I love very very much. I look at this entire year and I can’t help but feel very grateful, for the good things and the bad! All of this in one little year so think about the possibilities if we only focus and work towards what we want, the rest always find its way:)

So whether it’s a new challenge or an exciting new path for the blog, I want to welcome all change I want to make the most out of what’s left of this year and it will be okay because I will be wearing a beautiful hat on my head to keep me grounded and beautiful boots to take me where I want to go, all in style of course! A girl has to look nice even when she’s busy. Now, my wardrobe won’t change dramatically next week because lets face it.. I live in sunny So Cal. But in the coming posts I will be talking about transition looks, the must-have items for Fall, more blogging tips and many more fun things! So follow along..

To welcome Fall season I decided to wear a white jacket and my favorite brown leather booties. I like pairing these with white shorts to balance out the look, I think it keeps it more casual and adding a straw hat makes it more fun!

Belts + My Favorites

This Summer I’ve been loving belts, I have them in every color! But last week I found this beautiful white leather one at Planet Blue’s new Newport Beach location and I had to have it! I love the black and brown belts but this one caught my eye because of how thin it is, therefore the double buckles don’t make me feel too chunky. Personally I’m a firm believer that accessorising your outfit is the key to make it interesting and doing it with belts can make it a lot more fun! Honestly, its things like this that can make an outfit go from simple to stylish. So whether it’s a romper, dress or your favorite jeans, a belt will always go perfect with it!

I paired it with all black because I love the contrast but feel free to mix it up! A white belt will pretty much go with everything. But if you’re not feeling the white, at the bottom I’ve shared some of my favorite belts of the season <3 Take a look..

5 Blogging Resources

Hi Guys!

It’s been a while since I’ve shared some tips and resources I use on my blog, so I thought I decided I would dedicate this week’s post to just that!

  1. Tools for your BlogCreative Market.  I use this website for their Fonts, I LOVE them! They are really easy to install and are not expensive. They also have Themes, Graphics and Plug-ins.  They have it all! By the way.. the font I use for my “XO ERIKA”at the bottom of my blog posts was bought from this site. I usually pay $8 per font, this one was $16 but I also used it for my business cards and pretty much everything else so it was worth it! Here’s the link if you want to check it out.
  2. Tracking your Social MediaIconosquare.  Some of you might have heard of this site before and yes its just as great as they say! You can use it to track your Instagram statistics. From your hashtags, the best times a day to post, your engagement, it basically gives you full control. It’s a great tool to use whether you needed it for personal reasons or business like creating your Media Kit. They have a 7-day free trial so I would recommend you check it out to see if it’s a right match for your needs.
  3. Improve your mind with Books: This is a great way to stay motivated! And you should never stop learning so I’m sharing some of the authors I love:                                    –Malcolm Gladwell is my favourite right now! I read Outliers: The Story of Success and loved it. He talks about the pattern behind brilliant software billionaires, athletes, musicians and how their backgrounds, family and culture led them to be successful in each of their industries. After reading it I immediately bought The Tipping Point. Now this one talks about how some trends, ideas and social behaviours can sky-rocket and explains the reasons behind this sudden success. Both books are really helpful for anyone! But they have really helped me understand this Blogging/Fashion Industry. I highly recommend them!                                                                                                              –Garance Doré brings you a candid view on her career as one of the first bloggers out there. In Love Style Life she shares stories on life, style and truth behind the fashion industry. It’s not a Pulitzer winning book by any means, it’s a fun book read. BUT what I truly loved about it her witty unapologetic style of writing. She is brutally honest, she’s not full of herself (like 90% of the books in this category are) and has truly impeccable style. A true gem in this industry. I read this book on my last vacation and fell in love with her journey.
  4. Links: Bitly I rely on this website all the time! If there is something I hate seeing is long endless links on profiles. And with Bitly you can easily shorten your links for any platform. They also provide measure and optimization services on your audience and marketing strategies. But I mostly use it for links.
  5. Engage with your Readers: ConvertKit . This is the only one I havent fully tried. But now that I’m thinking of jumping on email lists I am dying to put this website to work! I have done a lot of reasearch and this one seems to be the best fit. From what I’ve seen so far its pretty easy to use and holds the reputation for the best marketing service out there. But what really did it for me was that it was created by a Blogger for Bloggers.

Bomber Jacket Yes Or No?

This summer I am very open to try new styles! I want to give my closet a a bit of a spin and this Spring/Summer Bomber Jackets have made a surprising come back. And I say surprising because I never and I do mean literally NEVER thought I would try this trend. Bomber jackets always bothered me to be honest but with the thought in mind of trying something new and getting out of my comfort zone for you guys, I’ thought I would give it a try! And guess what?? I loved it. It’s such a lovely and fun look to wear. I particularly loved this one because of the flower print which you guys know I’m all up for and the lines along the sleeves are a nice touch!

Bomber jackets have gone from a bulky silhouette with heavy fabrics, to a more slim style with more delicate materials. You see them in silks and satins or with prints like mine. And how you style it is up to you! You can either throw it on top of a little black dress for a night out or you can style it the way I wore it, with your favourite jeans and sleek heels. The point is to make it your own. I added a bright pink lipstick to keep it fun and I’m ready to go.

Comfy Style Done Right

Guys sorry for the lack of posts this past week! I have friends visiting from out-of-town and I have been showing them around and enjoying their company. But I’m back now and ready to start the week with a fresh blog post!

Now, I’ve always been a firm believer that comfy doesn’t have to look ugly. Even if you have a busy day you can still look chic! I chose a nude pleated hem jacket, with a strappy beige top and midi twill pants. I swear it is like wearing pajamas! I know all three items are  very loose and flowy but with the mix of different lengths (meaning the oversized jacket and the shorter pants) it balances each other out. Now the shoe situation… I am a fan of heels, so Im sorry but I feel like heels are a must no matter the mood! And these are actually comfy. Plus they are the finishing touch, after all it is a work day! You cant really add sneakers right? So just choose your comfiest heels and meet your week goals <3 Let me know your go to’s on comfort…

Hold On To Your Hats!! Studio DIY Photoshoot

I am SO excited to finally be able to share this photoshoot I did with Studio DIY and this amazing group of girls!! If you follow me on Instagram you already know what I’m talking about. I sometimes work on special projects and am not allowed to share them until they go live. So as you can imagine I have literally been counting the days until Studio DIY would publish them on their blog and this week they finally did!!!

As you may or may not know, Studio DIY   is a creative lifestyle company dedicated to make life more FUN and COLOURFUL! I have followed them on IG for a long time and when they announced they were looking for a few gals to be part of their shoot I immediately jumped at the opportunity! The project was Kentucky Derby themed for the drink  Izze and it was without a doubt the most inspiring photoshoot I’ve ever been in! Before I continue, I want to be clear that these photos are not mine, they belong to Studio DIY and their talented team and I am beyond honoured to have been part of it (at least for a day )

Now, picture Alice in Wonderland mixed with Pinterest Heaven in a room full of creative hard-working people and you will get an idea of what my experience was! I applied a couple of weeks ago but I wasnt sure what to expect, so I was a bit nervous. But as I walked into their headquarters in DTLA, I immediately felt the energetic vibes being carried through the halls by their lively playlist. This made me feel more at ease. I knew I was too early, but I took a deep breath and walked into what seemed like a colourful madness! One that spread all over their walls, floors, desks and lounge area. Every inch of this place was covered by diy projects, funny props, racks of clothes, a table full of sweets and about 11 excited people setting up. Seeing how the rhythm of this place matched my usual mood, I walked up to Kelly Mindell and introduced my self. And just like that I completely relaxed! I spent the next few of hours trying on the funniest outfits, getting my hair and makeup done, getting to know these amazing girls excitedly standing next to me and simply having the best time with the crew! They made each and every one of us a unique hat to wear, mine was a giant milkshake (I loved it!!) and we all gathered around a brunch area styled to fit the vibrant product and basically let us enjoy it while they photographed us from different angles.

It was a truly inspiring experience. And I’m still overwhelmed with happiness that I got to be part of something as special as this! I truly hope that more exciting projects will come my way this year. Let me know how you like this fun setting…

Like I’ve said before, don’t ever be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and chase after what you really want! You never know where it may lead you. If Im being perfectly honest, I never thought they would pick me out of all the people who applied, but that didn’t stop me. And I’m so glad I went for it because I would have missed out on one of the best experiences I’ve had since I started blogging! So I hope this inspires you to get out there and do the same.

If you want to see how they made these amazing hats head over to their blog to see their tutorial and check out their original post. You can find it Here.

As always thank you so much for reading!

4 Key Habits Every Girl Boss Needs To Know

This year is flying by! I can’t believe it’s almost May, right?! Spring just brings a lot of work to my week, so with a full agenda it’s really easy to feel overwhelmed. I mean don’t get me wrong, I love what I do but its a lot of work! So I realised that by implementing these 4 key habits I am able to get things done much faster:

  1. Make Friday your Plan Day: Monday’s are universally hated. That’s a fact. Well then it makes sense to end your Friday’s day work with a list of next week’s To-Do List by prioritizing what will help me move my career/business forward. Why? Because that way even when you have an unbelievably busy schedule, by making next week’s list you’ll have one less thing to worry about at the end of each day and more importantly you will be able to enjoy your weekend without dreading Monday (as much). This brings me to step #2…
  2. Tackle the hardest thing on your list first: Okay so Monday comes and everyday I have my to-do lists. But still, seeing a long list might make you feel stressed, so what I do is I tackle the most tedious and/or most important thing first. Why? Because I’ve realised that by doing this it gives me a sense of accomplishment. I feel the weight come off my shoulders therefore I’m more motivated and the rest of my list doesn’t seem as hard.
  3. Boomerang for Gmail: This is a LIFE SAVER. It works for scheduling your emails. No matter in what industry you’re in, we all get tons of important emails everyday. Now, my biggest nightmare is when I forget to email back during work hours or worse to follow-up! So with Boomerang, you write an email and it gives you options like Send Now or Schedule For Later or you can also set it up to remind you to follow-up in “x” mount of days/weeks if you don’t hear back. Amazing right?! That way I can answer emails at the end of my day and schedule to have them send first thing in the morning! And just like that my morning starts way less stressful aaand helps out with step #4 (keep reading)..
  4. Exercising M-F: I know what you’re thinking WHEN do you find the time to work out during the week? Why not go the weekend instead?? Well let me tell you.. if you make the effort to get up extra early and make it to the gym, the rest of the day you will feel way more energized! You feel more motivated and trust me your attitude dramatically changes. Exercising during the week is the main reason why successful people get every single task done that day. Think about it, the endorphins you realise when exercising keep you focused and driven all day so you see.. the week is WHEN you need that extra push, keep the weekend for other fun activities or hell sleep in! You deserve it Girl Boss! Dont believe me? Try it <3

Sunday Reads

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday! One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is hangout with my friends and boyfriend at the beach, which I did earlier and ended up having the best time:) the day was absolutely beautiful and I couldn’t have asked for better company. That said, I have to admit that Im also a book nerd so there’s nothing I love more than a good read. And lately I’ve been devouring Girl Boss by Nasty Gal’s fabulous founder Sophia Amoruso. Im sure many of you have read it by now but I just got around to buying it and Im loving every page! It is an easy and humorous read, perfect for a Sunday afternoon. She speaks openly about how she started on the business and how she managed to turn her little company into the empire it is today. Im hooked! Specially when I found out she was working at Academy of Art University in San Francisco the same year I was studying there, I mean how amazing would have been to know her then! But anyways I’ve been feeling so inspired by her story that I can’t wait to have my own line one day. I’ve surely dreamed about for too long now, hopefully 2016 will bring those dreams to a reality once and for all. For now Im still learning the art and I’ll keep working on my stuff so that I’ll soon be able to share it with you guys;)
